The Freimarktslauf Garrel, which was first held in 2006, has developed into a success story as part of the Garreler Freimarkt. In 2023, the 18th edition of this popular fun run will take place, attracting both locals and visitors. Participants can take part in officially measured 5 km and 10 km races, as well as children's races over 2.5 km and 1.2 km. Particularly noteworthy are the Bambini races, which are supported by local kindergartens and elementary schools and represent one of the highlights of the event.

- The number of participants has steadily increased, and already in the third year, over 1,000 registrations were recorded.
